Vidalia First UMC’s Mission: To make disciples of Jesus Christ through Worship, Growing, and Serving.
In our student ministry we uphold this mission as students worship corporately in one of our two services, in youth worship on Wednesday nights, and encouraging personal worship through daily devotion and time with the Lord.
We offer time for spiritual growth on Sunday mornings as we breakdown the morning message and discuss the application, as we teach on Wednesday nights from the word, and as we meet in small groups on Sunday nights where real talk about life and scripture take place.
When students begin to grow in their relationship with the Lord serving is a natural result. We offer many opportunities throughout the year for students to serve. In our church students are encouraged to help with children’s ministry, ushering, and greeting. We go to the Bethany Home monthly to sing and visit with the residents. We have times where we volunteer at the Refuge, the Dream Center and God’s storehouse. We also go on domestic and international mission trips in the summer. As opportunities arise we love to be a part of being Jesus to our community.
A catchphrase that our youth group has adopted is #iRefuse. The idea is that our students would refuse to conform to the patterns of this world. Our goal is for students to grasp who Jesus really is, the Son of God and Savior of the world, and out of that knowledge to live an unashamed, bold life that shares Him with others.
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes.”
